Empty shells and fluted wrappings
Left in a garish cardboard heart
Roses once beautiful and red
Hanging their heads, falling apart
Letters once written with ardor
Yellowed with age and stained with tears
A golden ring once worn with pride
Now a symbol of wasted years
A heart once vibrant, full of love
Is sorrowful, barely beating
A broke and forgotten Valentine
All that's left when love is fleeting
