This poem records a moment when generosity of spirit prevails over negative feelings. The speaker does not have to be this open and receptive, but the fact is that seems to be her nature because it is expressed without fanfare. Doing the right thing comes naturally to such people, I suppose. Bless them. May their numbers increase!
