I slip away from the joyful crowd
Sun dresses, moonlight and wedding vows
Give me strength to play this part
A practiced smile to mask my heart.

i see ur a great poet but of darkness I am adding u do read some lovely ones if you feel o poet these poems may uplift the darkness of your dreams when as in nightmares all scream once in a way we all do nothing about life is solely true we face such maleficence every now and then o Poet why alone must you repent Reading some romantic ones may shed off the glum you are on line at this time so chime read my two poems moms smiles and mothers day today you are welcome by poet me
Thank you very much dear poet. For those who know me I challenge them to live fully. To begin the day new. I mean to startle them with my excitement which is as real as I am. Understanding those things which are sad and deeply felt are lessons in appreciation. We learn by living and take these lessons to heart. These dark poems only help me to see the light much more clearly.
Deprivation is that candlelight tonight and every night which alone makes in all humans a perpetual candle light none can match ever after that fateful night but only then poetry comes to sight and does sighs alight but the glow has already gone leaves one forlorn morn after morn, Ghalib went Omar Khayyam too out of life's battle will be left out me and you
I hardly know where to begin, what to think, but perhaps in humble appreciation I will say thank you. Which seems hardly fitting and yet when accepted within the spirit given can be measured as worthy.
Give me strength to play this part A practiced smile to mask my heart. We all cherish and pine for those times when life was a full. Now much waning has come over, still we want to hide it and try to put on a mask of cheerfulness! Like the crescent moon, something remains and that gives us hope! A poem deep in meaning, but sad in tone!
Thank you Valsa, the writing comes from a personal place. An image burned into my mind once of a lovely one. The memory burned once but now remains as a feeling that I live with, more like a glowing ember now or a crescent moon. Lessons learned! Thank you for the insightful comment. Hope all is well in the land where you live under the same moon!
beautifully penned about the loss and pain which is masked by a smile, and how the mind finds solace
The realization that nobody is lovely tonight is no negative comment toward anyone. They may be many things but to be lovely like love is not a shared crown, Thank you...
Joyful crowd! ! Crescent moon. Thanks for sharing this poem with us.
Thank you Edward. I am wishing you the best, under the sun or the moon!
The loss of a loved one felt here with so much intensity reminding us how we should appreciate those we love and make sure they know it always. Beautifully written poem Eddie. Impressively passionate.
Appreciation now that is the key. What is lost before we learn that is sad but the wisdom gained must come at a cost. We are strangely better for it!
Lovely poem. Memory of own love slips in on each day special for someone else. We are just mere spectators there so often with that artificial smile. I too would sometime rather watch the crescent moon.
So insightful but with a sigh we go on in pursuit of happiness and in that journey we move in the right direction and meet kindred spirits along the way.
In my mind, I am forever May; tho my physical being is late October.
I am not buying it Kelly. I have read enough to know that you are a man for all seasons...
Such a beautiful write. Love the rhyme. So much contained in this short poem. So so readable n penetrative. Touched my soul.
The waning moon, a reminder of a time when it was whole. A seemingly impossible brilliance, living on in memory. The price paid is great. We are not born enlightened beings. Long long ago I had everything that I could desire except the wisdom of appreciation. I live life with that painful truth by embracing it with both hands and by helping strangers and friends in need.
You are very kind, a trait that I am sure all that know you truly appreciate!
Sun beautifully dresses moonlight. No one is lovely tonight but lovely scene motivates mind. An interesting poem is beautifully penned with great imagery.10
Thank you Kumarmani the moon has always been an ancient source of inspiration and always will be.
Dang, Edmund! —this is an excellent lyrical poem. I especially like the crescent moon image. Don’t know if you write music. If not, maybe find someone, for this, it seems to me, easily lends itself to a song. -Glen
