Voyeurism vividly voiced. It made me feel uncomfortable as I read it.

i love the picture you've painted here. the metaphor of it is genius. people really enjoy watching other people suffer. you've proven this beautifully here. who's up for some desperate housewives? ! <3 Miranda

Actually this was about any poet....myself included. I don't watch the soaps although I'm sure it could apply to many things as Alice has said. I meant this to represent how our suffering is shown through our poetry here and many times the more 'troubling' the poems are and the more 'hurting' the poet is, the more the poem is 'enjoyed'. Many people are 'tuning in' to this website to see what's going on with the poets they read on a regular basis instead of watching television. It's interesting to me because I think we all do it. We can almost gauge the poet's daily mood by their posts. Thanks for the comments. Sincerely, Mary

I really like this. It could apply to news, reality shows, etc. I think the media innundates us with human suffering, debauchery and violence as entertainment (especially television) . It makes some of us more sensitive but it desensitizes the majority, especially our children. avr

Interesting, Mary. Somehow to me it didn't seem to really be about you...instead it seemed to be about the 'soaps.' Am I right? Raynette

Yes, I am sure there is more, but it will be positive. Most of it. This is really good again, and don't you let anyone talk you out of rhyming. Best H
