Dear Bharati, I am delighted to read a poem on Gul Mohur - the enchanting flowers of the summer season in India. Yes, they are beautiful. In the area where i live, there are rows of Gul Mohur trees. It is a wonderful sight. The profusion of orange red flowers surely brings a smile. I was not aware that it is a Krishna Chuda. In Kerala, we adorn Sri Krishna with Tulasi and various other flowers. A lovely read, Bharati.

Thank you for the information about the Goldmohur tree- -it adds the depth to your poem that I would have missed as I am not familiar with your country's culture. (You have drawn me to know more about your culture and history because it produced you and because of the sweetness and purity of your personality here on PH) . Pain will go away As long as You keep Spring Tied to your heart string- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This is the sweetness and purity of your personality and vision and it is sooooooooooooooooo appealing here. Dang, that's good writing! I drink Sunlight- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Oh, I am so envious! ! ! ! ! ! I would have loved to write such a line, such an exceptionally emotive line, such a declaration of a joy in life in three words! ! ! You rock, Bharati! Gentle breeze Will shake The branches Flowers will fall On you and at your feet- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Ah, yes. I think I shall imagine me there under that springing tree with its flowers falling on me and tangling themselves in my hair and that's where I will be the rest of this Sunday.... thank you, Bharati for giving me such a fine lace to contemplate the loveliness of God's creation. 10++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This tree grows in my country as well and usually flowers after a prolonged hot and dry spell. Your beautiful write says it so well; it does bring a smile on a day when everything else is down. Thanks Bharati.

I am the 30th reader to comment on the poem and the reason for so many comments is obvious: your poem is a poem of celebration of a beautiful natural thing and pulls us into the joy of it. We celebrate with you. Your description of the flower is not just its natural beauty but also suggests the presence of something divine in nature. The references to Lords Krishna add to that impression. Krishna is well known to many people here. He is one of those gods whose love of humanity makes his appeal universal. I have a mental image of Krishna playing his flute under the gorgeous tree. And the music and the flowers spread his love over all who hear and see.

I drink sunlight and filter them to color - That is a natural process but it reveals something divine. Your appreciation of this flower came at just the right time for me: I have taken my aunt to three flower shops to buy new flowers for her home garden. The colors and aromas that swirl around us created a special joy in me, which your poem now puts into memorable words. It shows WHY these spring flowers have so moved me. I should thank Lord Krishna as well. I'm reading right now a long poem about Krishna in translation. The poet's name is MAGHA, a 7th century court poet. This is not the love play of the adolescent Krishna but the mature warrior and protector against demons,

Thank you for your kind words on this poem.I am replying it after exactly one month.I am really amazed at your knowledge of Indian literature.I have not read the poem'Sisupalavadha' penned by MAGHA.This story is a small part of Mahabharat.MAGHA's poem is based entirely on this episode.

A very hearty poem that elevates the reader. As wonderful as the blooming goldmohur. Very well-done! I believe this tree also goes by the name 'flame of forest'. Right? (10)

@Bharati Nayak, I've just read this beautiful poem of yours. Thanks for the Poet's Notes. These flowers are called Krishna Chura in my language, Bangla. 'Pain will go away As long as You keep Spring Tied to your heart string' - So nicely said! If I may know, why is the question mark within parenthesis in the sixth line? Best wishes and happy writing!

Thank you very much for reading and commenting on my poem.I know a bit of Bengali language as I had stayed in Kolkata for some years.Odia and Bengali languages have close affinity and they have so many common words I put question mark in the parenthesis to mean- - Did you? /Did you not?

The tree is ready for me; it has dressed itself in anticipation of companionship with me. What a kind reminder that there are smile-worthy things waiting. They remind me of inchoate wishes I've felt and why I call a place home. By coincidence I read this in a dark mood, so I feel it is addressed to me.

Thank you for sharing your information about Krusna Chuda. It seems in India many trees and flowers are associated with the name of Lord Krisna..Such is a flower bearing Krisna's name is Krusna Tamala 'It is a beautiful, blue color flower. .Its white variation is called Radha Tamala.

April- May is the time when Gulmohur trees are in flower! It is such a lovely sight! The Gulmohur tree standing in the sun and sucking in sunlight produces flowers. Through pain, it makes others smile! Lovely description!
