Hi John, a sonnet has 14 lines, written in iambic pentameter (unstressed-stressed syllables-10 syllables in each line) , with the following rhyme pattern: abab cdcd efef gg. Most sonnets are about love, and usually pose a question, then respond, and then the final two lines sum everything up. You don't always have to follow all the rules, especially when first learning, as I am doing :)
