Behind is all warmth and light
Around us crowds the darkest night
Behind we left the green shire
Now we tread in a land of thorn and fire
The sky that once was blue and beautiful
Now is grey and sunless—steel dull
Hands that used to flowers seed
Now battered left to bleed
Grasping, groping—seeking a way
Yearning, burning—for a brighter day
I am here, your dearest friend
For now and forever—until the end
Behind is left all hope and home
Now we wander where few dare to roam
Behind we left all trees budding in the leaf
The darkness surrounds us with only grief
Waters that once seemed to run so clear
Now are choked, muddied and drear
Feet that used to tread on grass
Now stumble bruised and slashed
Running, crawling—seeking a road
That will lead to a peaceful abode
I am here, dearest friend
For now and forever—until the end
Behind is all life we once lived
Now we have only one to give
Behind we left our camp of respite
Now on the altar, we give up our light
The days have gone down into shadow
The grass is withered in the meadows
Now the trumpet sounds—stars fall
Here we falter at the end of all
When it seems to be crumbling
And you think that you're alone in the ending
I am here, dearest friend
For now and forever—until the end
Great ultimate line, and great job at recognizing loyalty in each of its forms throughout these three tales. Great picture too!
Awesome and masterful poem! Through this metaphorically and symbolically rich piece you trace the stories of Lord of the Rings, Narnia and Harry Potter excellently.
Liked the recurring lines at the end of each stanza
A well thought out and wonderful poem that gives hope and light to those who have burdens in.life. Very touching and inspiring. Well presented with great poetic expressons.
