Congratulations for being Poet of the Day.A beautiful poem, .I came to read it many times.
Lovely rendering, Mark. Congratulations for poem of the day. You deserve it. All said and done, I would have expected you to leave some explanatory notes below the poem. I wish I could have edited this one before today, as I’ve done with some others. The backdrop for this may have been a movie like Cold Mountain, primarily a song. Madame Butterfly type of thing, while I felt connected to the emotions imagined. I haven’t read it since I wrote it. But I recall writing very fast glad it is well received my friend. Thank you, Madathil it is much appreciated.

Very expressive imagery. Leaves one looking over the horizon, watching the corn sway and wondering....
Lovely poem Mark. There is a little suspense and anticipation here. That army soldier must be a very intimate part of your life and personality. Congratulations for this poem of the day recognition for your poetic talent.
