Very fascinating. Intriguing...what you mean by the 'foot' is explained in the concluding stanza, that you never 'forget the road [that is] travelled'? Serious contemplation on achievement, the central thread, with the excellent warning against being deceived by favour, and forgetting true favour. It flowed rather nicely, and the end-rhyming was enjoyable.
