Human nature depends upon food. There is a dictum in Hindi " Jeisa anna eisa man." Generally person having green vegetable are less violent than the non vegetarian. You have rightly pointed here that this old Subhashita puts forward the case of plant-based food from aesthetic and non-violence point of view. A nice poem on food is well translated and shared here.
