I have to laugh
when I look at the lists
of people some poets
are following.
One person that I just looked at
was following Shakespeare,
Frost, Kipling, Dahl, Angelou,
and ten or so other dead people.
The only living poet
that this person was following
was someone who hasn't posted
anything since 2020. Maybe he's also dead!
The only reason to follow someone
is to see what they have done lately,
to be able to read their new poem
as soon as they post it.
Shakespeare, Kipling, and Frost
are NOT going to be posting any
new poems, so following them
does absolutely nothing for you.
Richard, Poem Hunter is strange. It says that you are following six people, but when I click on the list, only four names come up: Mary Elizabeth Frye, Langston Hughes, Charles Baudelaire, and Sumit Ganguly.
With so much talent on this site, why not follow the living! Belle, as a rule, I don't generally post whom I'm following. But the living, loving, laughing Belle would certainly be one that I'd be ringing for!
(cont.) I humbly off If poems or a dead person got onto PH in the first place, WHO submitted them? ? ? Did Shakespeare, my dear? ? ? Can't such a 'WHO' submit MORE in the future? ? I say: 'YES! '. merry x-mas. bri : )
Bri, in spite of your logic here, I checked your list, and YOU ARE NO LONGER FOLLOWING Shakespeare or any other dead people. Maybe I convinced you? Happy New Year!
Belle & others: With all 'due' appreciation for your reasoning i.e. no appreciation, (cont.) (cont.) I humbly offer my 'take' on the subject of 'following dead poets on PH', as follows: (cont.)
I agree with you Belle. There is no point following dead people as no new posts of their poems are coming on Notification
When you get as old and slow as I am, Dead people are the only people we can follow,
True, very true! I think I have made the mistake too.

I would like to translate this poem
2) Daniel Brick is no longer living...but he's still very much alive in our hearts! And although I don't really follow the dead, I'll make an exception for him and Cohen any day! Here's to them and the exceptionally living and loving poets on PH!
