As Mandolyn put it this is A GREAT DANCE OF WORDS and I too was struck by the incongruous, startling image of HITLER IN AN HAWAIIAN SHIRT (the only person I'm aware of who wore Hawaiian shirts regularly was the French composer Olivier Messiaen) but that phrase occurs in the context of the fly realizing it's being hunted by a LEVIATHAN - a human being - whose cruel (?) blow renders it helpless. Such is the fate of small creatures like flies and snails. Once again you inhabit the consciousness of another being alien to our view/perceptions.
