Ahhhh... had a parakeet instead of a parrot but sometimes when I talked to him, he too ruffled his feathers as if to say and you disturbed my peace to say Petey want a cracker? And I thought people had a sufficient enough IQ to say something bright. Love this poem - you found the exactly right bird image to close this clever and perfect jewel of a poem! ! ! 10++++++++++++++ from me and the ghost of Petey past! ! ! ! ! !
Hi Susan, Thank you for stopping by, and for this remarkable comment. Yes, there are times I think the intelligent comments come from the family parrot. Thank you again (and thanks to Petey) .
A funny write of delight. Everything has its own time..Wonderful piece.10
a person could wait a LONNNNNNNNNNNNG time. they say that God does not always answer prayers in the way people want them answered. why should a parrot be any different? ? ? i especially enjoyed the first three lines. ;) i really liked this poem. to MyPoemList. bri :)
Thanks so much, Bri. And you know what they say....parrot spelled backw.....wait, that's 'dog'!
Its funny when we think we hope a reply from a bird/ or someone we talked to...the bird just moving moving and we waiting waiting....silence, the bird moving moving again and we waiting waiting...no reply..nothing is really communicate well to each other, both sides are required then only communication is happened!
Thank you so much, Soul. Brilliant observation....sometime that interaction, as you suggest, is almost a dance!
Birds and animals give us magical experience very often. This poem seems to be humorous. You have brilliant ideas on expressing this poem with reality of hope. This is excellently penned.10
Kumarmani, thank you so much. Birds are fascinating indeed. And I recall the day when a mention of 'bird brain' got me thinking along the path that resulted in this poem.
animals can't talk, except man. a talking man but not hearing or understanding or answering is equal to a talking parrot, is it! and we hope because a wing ruffles. beautiful poem Mark
Muhammad, thank you so very much. And indeed, a man talking without listening was one of my inspirations.
The poem is a study of man's close bond and interaction with nature. Thanks, MJL.
Maybe one day you can wait for the parrot to talk to you and then shake your head. I am sure there is a story to be told from the other side too. These three lines got me thinking a lot. Thanks Mj
Thanks, Loke! I think the parrot, a fount of wisdom, would indeed understand!
