Flower 2 - The Ravishing Hibiscus Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Flower 2 - The Ravishing Hibiscus

Rating: 5.0

Ravishing Hibiscus,
Radiating power,
Reaching out to the Almighty,
It's true beauty revealed,
Rich in colour and content
Waiting to be adorned royally!

Five silky petals facing the Sun,
Fantastic in form,
Flame like,
The fiery red,
Fearless Goddess,
A fitting tribute to the super power!

A long delicate pistil,
Arising from a dark maroon centre,
Adorned with a cluster of stamens,
The yellow pollen dust, so angelic,
An array of colours- red, yellow, pink and white
Shoe Flower, so attrractive!

Hides nothing - reveals all
Holding the calyx, corolla, stamen and pistil,
Head up in a graceful slant,
With healing powers,
Herb that can add a flaming zeal
To hypnotise and command!

The flower that bestows strength,
The flower that gives confidence,
The flower that sings the women's power,
To create, sustain with aesthetic values,
The flower of worship and prayer,
Adorned by the beautiful Goddesses! !

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A poem of five verses with Rhyme Scheme AAABAC. This is a flower which has a strong character to it. In my native land of Kerala, it grows in plenty and is a flower of worship. It is indeed, a enchanting sight to see the Goddesses being adorned with red Hibiscus garlands. It is also the favourite flower of Lord Ganapati. An attractive flower - could not resist writing a poem on it!

It is wonderfully written Geeta. I am not usually a plant person but when you write about them I feel love for these flowers and love for nature. Thank you.

Not being a plant person, still, you have taken the trouble to read the poem. So generous of you.! Once you attune yourself to Nature - flowers or trees, you can really feel the divine presence. Thank you Ayman.

A flower of outstanding attraction and a charming poem on it. It's remedial capabilities as a herb is familiar in Kerala. It's a popular shampoo for strengthening beauty of hair.
