Floating Photographs Poem by Gio Masserati

Floating Photographs

Fell asleep in a dream that carried me
Through photos in an album
There were pictures of you
After we said, I do
And pictures with me
A life happy and full
Us living joyfully

Prints of us walking at the beach
Photos of us hiking in the mountains
Pics of us travelling next to fountains

Our album was full in many ways
Overflowing with great memories
All of them sentimental

Who would ever give up gems like these?

Floating photographs

My tears had soaked my pillow
I was floating in regret
I reached out to dry them all
But the photos were not wet

In an instant my eyes opened
And I stumbled to my nightstand
As I opened up our photo album
The stark pages screamed...

...WERE EMPTY!

My heart was overcome

Floating photographs
There were none
Empty
Like you
Without me

Empty
