I always wonder if once gone, the mother bird misses the children, she will never, probably, ever see again? Your poem is so well written it was like being there, feeling and seeing the evolution of the small ones growing and their tender scenes. It is remarkable how outstanding poems need not the visual. As in this case the poet's tender feelings and words express it all. A veritable joy!

A lovely description of this everyday miracle, Valsa. It's as good as a nature video! My uncle was a bird photographer. You may like to google some of his photos - try: Nico Myburgh bird photographs images.

A mother is a glimpse of the creator. A lovely poem by Valsa George, a daughter, a mother and by grace of Almighty is a lovely grandmother.

Beautiful piece of writing. From fragile, naked fledglings to soft feathery flying birds....how artfully you have unfolded their growth n journey. Wonderful observation. Well-worded. A delightful read. A10

Cracking of shells provokes thought. Being violent in a specified direction this bird frightens. Without developing wings little birds cannot fly at all. Little birds have hunger and mother bird brings food and gives. Often mother flies away and little birds wait for her. They also want to fly like their mother. An amazing poem is well crafted and shared.10

Just beautiful. Such a fragile gift of the Earth. Such trust of their mum to come back to feed them. I love birds and everything they stand for. The confinements of the egg is broken, the barrier of the nest is a platform to stretch and fly. A massive 10+

I am enchanted by birds and equally enchanted by this beautiful bird poem. The picture is endearing. To quote: With night fall, she would fly back to her nest Letting them snooze under her wings tight As days went by, they saw downy feathers grow Giving their body and their wings a rare glow They were no more ugly pieces of flesh But young birdies with plumage fresh They longed for the freedom of the sky And like their mother, wanted to fly Touching and most beautifully portrayed, Valsa! 100

Care that the mother takes to bring up the fledglings is beautifully presented in the poem. Mother cares till the babies become independent - nature's way.

Even in the animal kingdom, a mother -child relationship is so in tact....! What else can we see here other than God's thoughtfulness towards His creation! Thank you sir!

valsa, i was drawn to this poem by the title. just recently on walks with my six and a half year old granddaughter we saw curve bill thrasher and starling fledglings. she was excited! and, of course, i as her baba (as she calls me) was excited by her excitement. -glen

Birds and their nests are equally fascinating to children and adults.... I feel I would have the same excitement on spotting a bird's nest as your grand daughter had! Thank you Glen....!
