Five Malls In One Day Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Five Malls In One Day

Visiting five malls in one day
Arms like snakes
I'm holding shopping bags within shopping bags
And I totally rock this consumerist identity

I'm too busy buying things
To see the world - That's a tree, that's a beautiful person
Rather, it's me with escalator based visions
Hold me close on the escalator until we reach the top (Ladies' wear! Men's wear!)

Visiting five malls in one day
My credit card gets me in and out of jail
So hold what you bought tight to your chest
The thoughts of buying what I saw advertised makes me breathless

Hold me close
It makes us feel like part of the sale
We are such a bargain
Neither one of us together or apart make a complete product
