Finite Poem by William Deutscher

Finite

Wholly unexpected
hiccup of fate.
Caught off guard,
much too late.

Twisting fortune,
random chance.
All too often
happenstance.

Bad luck now
when once so good,
Why me? Why you?
Never understood.

Steel girder falling,
unfair caprice.
One day soon -
just to cease!
