Final Fall Poem by Joan Hart

Final Fall

Rating: 4.8

You want to be
All that I need
Your soft, sad words
They plant the seed

The seed to the end,
It will be a slow climb
The inevitable drop
In just a matter of time

The line that distinguishes
Helping and hurting
Has become so faint -
All lines are blurring

The view is breathtaking
We’ve grown so tall
But how I dread
That final fall

I like this poem very much. The way you sustain the conflict between the feelings of joy at hopes being raised and the fear of them being dashed throughout the poem is superbly well done. Great writing - I loved it.
