Filicide Comments

Many parents do selective abortion of female fetus as they prefer son for the family. Whatever may be the reason , abortion certainly bears a sense of guilt on the part of the person who do it.

There are many factors to abortion It is both a legal and moral question.Why should one go for abortion? In many cases mothers are forced to do it by a lover/husband /in -laws and in many cases they opt it for convenience.There are also medical factors and factors like social stigma attached for an unwed mothers particularly in countries like India that force a mother to go for abortion.

Great poem, and I empathize with you dear poet. Something similar had happened to me long back... When my daughter was born, I could not be there, She died of birth complications, but I live with the burden till today that she felt upset, I was not there to welcome her. I too have written a poem on that, its precise title I can't recall.

Annihilating a life in the womb is an unpardonable crime. We don't have any right to blot out a life. Those parents who do it will be plagued by a sense of grief sooner or later. Those unborn that are thought to be a curse could very well be a boon or a blessing.... who knows! A salient thought expressed in powerful verse.
