Fiddleheads Poem by Ima Ryma

Fiddleheads

Favorite vegetable of mine
Is the fiddleheads of course,
Upon which I do love to dine,
And never have cause for remorse.
Called fiddleheads cuz a curled green
Looks kinda like the wood curl of
Head of a fiddle that be seen
On that stringed instrument above.
To cook, remove the husk and then
Rinse, and boil or steam real well
For several minutes or when
Tender enough, a poke should tell.

Fiddleheads are chewy and sweet,
Flavor of fun, bon appetit.
