(cont.) 2 - you are using Poetic License to mean strengthen as steel is a strong metal. i think this is the 'fence' you mean who lures you from a morally 'correct' path: " 4 a: a receiver of stolen goods b: a place where stolen goods are bought" to MyPoemList, despite its masked message. bri :)

Religious fences quickly came to my mind; it is not there but it is there, and all decided by the fence keepers or builders. Lots to think about in this brilliant write. Thanks Mj.

Indeed, Loke! And some of the unseen fences can be the most formidable.

I love me a MJ Lemon poem- -one a day is sure to keep the doctor away as well as stultification of the mind. You always give us multi-layered food for thought, my friend. Then there's this oddball fan of yours who simply has to go and jump the fence... You are a million star poet and this is a mega-star poem- - 10++++++++++

Wow....thank you, Susan. But look out, all is clear as long as the fence is arachnid free! Happy jumping! Thanks again.

We cannot do away with fences as we live in a world of intruders! Reading this poem, I am reminded of Robert Frost's famous line, 'Good fences make good neighbors' in his poem Mending Wall. But too much fencing, sure is not healthy! Great write, crisp and concise!

M.J. your profound poem is so timely! As with all of your poems, they are craftily multi-layered. Fencing in and fencing out. Keeping Americans in. And keeping certain ones out. Stealing whatever moral high ground he had and greatly improving the economy. The Christmas one is quite obvious! And I could find a few more. But I'll leave that for another time.

Thank you so very much, Richard. I am glad to see you caught the Christmas one. That was in mind as I was revising just before posting. Thank you so much.

Had to look in on this delightful fence poem after just finishing our fence to keep the dogs in. Actually a world without the need for fences would be great however not possible or practical in most cases. And yes very expensive.

Simone, too true, too true! I remember once being told the best fences help you get the right perspective on the outside world...Good fences! ? ! Thank you so much!
