Put on something warm
and take it for a walk
if that’s possible

Mark, I'm back to this poem after 2 years. Are 'we' feeling OLD? ? ? ! To my next showcase (July) . bri ;)
love your glimpses of aging that make us smile because of their painful truth_ 5 star rating
Thank you so much, Susan. I think I may add an update.. Nostalgia is looking strange. I am finding I have a favourable outlook on things that were not so good at the time. Is this what age does? ! ? ! Thanks again, Susan.
MJ ---What would our days be like without your humorous yet wise observations? They would be boring, that's what! ! !
oh, Bri, humor can be spelled either that way or humour==I think it is a British thing like honor and honour
this iIs joyous description of getting old. Please MJ read my new poems especially And here's to you, Mr. McClure i hope you like them

i read again today. still don't see the " humour" . maybe humour looks different than humor? ? ? i mean, BESIDES a different spelling. i'm not sure if i sent to MyPoemList. it should be there soon if it ain't already. bri :)
I liked the humor in your poem. Many thanks for your kind comments.
once again i've enjoyed this poem, but............where's the " humour" ? i see the " life" & the " reality" . did i say that the last time? bri :)
I think so. And thanks again, Bri. If the humour is sublime and subdued, it may creep up....
Great advice! My next-door neighbor, who is younger than I am, slipped on the ice in his driveway last week while trying to take out the garbage, and broke his hip. He had had surgery on his vocal cords years ago because of throat cancer, so he couldn't yell, and almost froze to death before his wife came out to see what was taking him so long. Almost everyone in my neighborhood is younger than I am...
You know you are blessed When your heart if filled with Peace Even in the storm.....so touching, true and impressive. A beautiful poem nicely executed. My pleasure reading time and again.
Being an old man myself, I can understand the feelings of another old man. Why the people bother to make fun of us, we have courage to make fun of ourselves better than the people. Such a great and nice poem.
We don't have to stop living, just slow down a little, a change of activities helps too. Best advice ever; and well written too. Thanks Mj
Very academic. The penned well. I respect the mind and the target of the poet to focus on an important issue. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much. I always hope, as time advance, that at least the mind preserves some youth.
Ha! Yes, aging is a challenging gift and there are definitely rules to follow.
Jette, that is a great way of looking at it! Yes, - rules! Tremendous observation.
Every day I look at beautiful Oklahoma sunshine and realize my changing attitude towards walk. Skipping it simply because of not wanting to put on warm cloths yet.
Thank you so much, Savita. And I am very much in sympathy with your attitude.
This poem made me confront my issues on this topic. I liked the way it makes me be honest, and face the back problems that are in this life of mine and some people around me. It is written on a subject we take for granted.
This poem resonates with an old codger like me...
