Wonderful way of expression, the scenery in poetry embedded with emotions, this is a great poem dear Mark :)
An emotional Senryu conveying a whole story through few words, When the party is over, there is always an emptiness. Loneliness engulfs you. I like particularly the word 'scented' added to the tissues. Even tears can have a fragrance. One of the best Senryu's i have read.10+
The gala feast is over, the tables and plates are empty! Everyone has gone back to their respective places. What remains is loneliness and the sadness that can rain down in trickling tears. But scented tissues are there to wipe them off! So much is conveyed in so few words!
Beside empty plates a box of scented tissues awaits lonely tears- - - - - Plates were emptied and left to their loneliness. When they were full, so many cheers around them and now there is no one to share tears.A meaningful senru.
Thank you so much, Bharati. And absolutely....those plates, both filled and empty, are the metaphor for one's state of acceptance, or loneliness.
Everybody shared the tasty dishes, a party that ended in an unending loneliness, nobody was there to share the tears but the scented tissue papers. The get-together was just a temporary relief. A nice seryu.
Thank you so much, Akhtar. I thought of the image in two ways....either alone after a massive feast, or a dinner-for-one scenario. Thank you so much.
Your observation to every situation is definitely very amazon. This humorous poem carries a mystery. Loneliness and tear associate to express each other. This poem is very brilliantly penned...10
Just like the loneliness and humour in The Great Gatsby! A brilliant Senryu juxtaposing extremes in emotions. Love it!
So much appreciated, Richard. And you are absolutely right! I can see Gatsby....
