February 9 Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

February 9

A cry from distance echoed
Sort of a chime of a bell in a temple it seemed
Transcending me into ethereal beauty
Smiling and shining was sun-kissed dew
And only hours old was the sun
When a lovely future was born
Twittering were the birds upon breeze-helmed trees
Fresh from blue, bees hovering around
Stung by, a rose opened
Mesmerized, pearls dropped, Gods dropped and stars dropped
As you arrived
Indebtedness of how many births I owe
I know not, I know not
But with you my life is complete
For love, happiness and beauty know no bounds.

Dedicated to Kanishka, my loving grandson
