Fear Setting Us Free Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Fear Setting Us Free

Rating: 5.0

What if I were to almost die tonight
Would you restore my damn failing sight
Would you sharpen the old man's hearing
And correct the veering steering

If I were to have a heart attack
Would you forever watch my back
Would we walk the Walk of Life
As we rushed to stop the strife

If I were to have a mild stroke
That stopped my fast life from going broke
Would you help in restoring my healthy being
By being there through exercising with dancing

If I were to be attacked by the Big C
Would you Stand By Me or end my Misery
Would you shoot me up with mega doses of C
Giving me additional dose of liberty

If I were to almost die tonight
Would you make life so out of sight
Would you start screaming to keep me living
As you smelled my fear during crying

If I were to battle my heart attack
With something healthier than a six pack
Would be curb the partying all night
To make it a damn worthwhile fight

If I were to calmly stroke the mild stroke
(That made me almost croak) with a blah toke
Would you stroke the hidden genius in me
And make me whom I really need to be

If I were to shark attack the Killer C
Would you fend off the madness in me
Would the love that you've always shared with me
Would it now and forever set us free

Very cleverly written :) I love rhymes so I may be a bit bias, but you covered so many scenerios of real fears, and so many one can relate to because of a friend or a family member. But I liked that despite all the tragic events that could happen one just wants someone to love and to be loved :)
