Fear Of The Unknown. Poem by Melody Iveren Kuku

Fear Of The Unknown.

Rating: 3.5

Like the knight of sleeping beauty,
He slashes through my heart.
Tearing down my courage,
Shattering my resolve like a wine glass.

He has stolen upon me in the dead of the night,
With darkness as his shield.
I look and wonder,
What brings my heart to my lips?
What shivers my spines?

Peekabo, thinkaboo!
Yet, I see not his face.
I try to fight, but my strength fails.
Boo! And I am defeated
When his thought cross my mind.

Show me thy face o slayer?
Nay, he says,
I am the darkness that haunts every man.
Tremble before me
Though you will never know my face.

You will ponder dawn till dawn
Till you vanquish me with courage
I will never leave your side
For I am fear of the unknown,
The darkness in every man.

Fear Of The Unknown.
