Fear Is The Key Poem by R B Seals

Fear Is The Key

Concerns mount; all ‘round they close in
becoming less subtle as numbers rise—
those stained in black, brown, or olive skin.
Fearful, we form the reasons and the whys.

Secure in writings of white man's code,
laws assured lessors kept their place—
oppressing all who dared rise too bold
ensuring survival of God's favored race.

Scores past—pivotal strife—Blue vs Gray,
stalwart Supremacy forced to capitulate;
need to right wrongs still holds true today
to maintain control using derision and hate.

Jefferson's concept: "inalienable Rights"
provided lives of status and prosperity.
Our duty: subjugate all born of lower sights—
the way it's meant to be, the way it must be!

An ideology—divinely inspired—we declare
to preserve our standing, place, and ethnicity.
Primacy employed, we crush the devil's lair
by lies, deceit, or force. We stand in piety.

Grateful to "Founders" for arms amendment,
legal platform to bolster public safety—
rightful tool to back our rising and dissent
to protect our needs, our rights, our dignity!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The fictional dialogue, expressed in poetic verse, seeks to provide limited insight into the disturbing comments and views held by a surfacing counterculture of community responsible for the rise of systemic racism. Nationwide, the expanding wave of resentment, fear, and hate is becoming more apparent—perhaps the result of singular doctrines wholly subscribed to by people who wish to consider themselves heir and master in a modern-day society that once saw prior generations in "rightful" positions of power, prestige and dominance.Reader views/comments are welcome.
