Fear Poem by susette varga

Fear

Why does love
Create so much fear?
Desire for another
Compelling
Yet abhorrent
Brings vulnerability
To the fore

Emotions in turmoil
Never felt before
Insecurities
Reaching their peak

To love another
Is no mean feat
Self preservation
Sadly competes
Dampening hopes
With it defeat

Why so afraid
To let our heart's rule?
Dispel negativity
Bend the rules?

Conditioned to expect
Too much
Ignoring the fact
The smooth
Goes with the rough

Why embrace fear
When our hearts
Meet with love?
Love has no reason
Rhyme
Nor logic

If to follow my heart
Makes me a fool
Then gladly
I will stupidly
Let my love rule

I bid you farewell
My fears and doubts
Place trust in my instinct
As I know it is right
