The most intimate relationship between a son and his father has been unfolded very beautifully in this equally beautiful poem. Heartiest Congratulations on the Poem of the Day for this lovely poem.

Whose luckier? The father or the son? Nice poem and thought.

For most boys their fathers are their role model- a friend, philosopher and a guide. Thanks for this lovely poem that is more than a commentary on father - son relationship.

This is great stuff Mary. In today's world of feminisation it is good to see the value of masculine traits appreciated. It is so wonderfully put together and the final line of each stanza is fantastic. Men are not all Homer Simpsons, and it is good that responsibilities are recognised. Superb Mary, as always. Yours Denis Joe

I find it touching, myself. It's nice to know such great fathers are out there. I personally believe it to be rare.
