Fateful Footsteps Poem by Evelyn Judy Buehler

Fateful Footsteps

Rating: 5.0

From out of the past, they pursue me-
I, his heart's nominee!
I hear footsteps in the hall-
I fear that I'm about to fall.

The face of love is in my mind;
His footsteps are not far behind.
Irrepressible one, come, come.
What corner of dreams are you from?

I hear footsteps on the stair,
And yes, my heart is aware.
I hear the love songs in the night...
I feel that I am in his sight.

I hear footsteps closer still...
Inside myself I feel the thrill!
Softly does destiny arrive.
Tenderly dreams come alive.

I hear the knock upon the door-
A shadow falls upon the floor!
And slowly I lift my eyes-
And my being intensifies!
