Richard, this is brilliant. As I read, I thought of Eddie Harris and Miles Davis, Rocky Horror....Even if these aren't the Eddie you mean, this work can be very personal for so many people. Brilliant!
Quite a fun response to the poem, MJ. Especially, since I've had fun with both the movie and the music. But I hate to disappoint you. Fast Eddie is a real-life character who happens to be a friend. The poem was written as a birthday gift. To this day, he proudly talks about it to so many people that it's a little embarrassing.
wow! lots of topics. it seems i wrote a poem not long ago about some 'fast' guy. maybe i never typed it. i like this one by you. i like the rhyming and that you weren't compelled to use the same number of lines in each stanza. he played the robber? not nice! ! ! bri :)
Thx, Bri for your positive feedback. Unconventional poem for a very unique person. He had a pretty colourful shady history, but that's history now.
Fast Eddie written from the heart and it shows.
