The feast of nine delights made me think of Chinese literature and traditions. There is definitely a pastoral air to this poem. Then we have our gods, our senators, our librarians, and our swords...

I may be off the mark, here, Tailor, but I think we sit here in our carefree lives while others are far off fighting for our freedom to do just that. Wonderful imagery - dream-like quality. Took me on a scenic voyage to beautiful ponds and rolling hills - far from the battlefields and stark reality of another place. Brilliant piece of work, Tailor! Linda

Sorry, just having another crack at this. Hope you don't mind! ! I love the palpable 'sensation' of distance (not necessarily in or from this world) that you manage to create, and the vague echoes of Coleridge. You've managed to endow phrases such as 'we pray on' and 'boastful gods' with great import. All in all, it's simply terrific poetry. jim (I may be back!)

Only just come across your work Tailor. Authentic and beautiful poetry that needs careful study! This takes me 'Far from the Madding Crowd'. There's an air of something in your work that is very distinctive. My mind's a little too slow today to grasp it fully - it's very subtle but it's very clearly there - shading towards some kind of unjaded renunciation leading to a specific type of acceptance.. I will get it. I loved this piece especially. jim

I love this rich tapestry of images from another time. The repetition of the first and last stanzas works a treat and the whole poem flows magnifcently. love, Alliexxxxxx
