A fabulous poem... appreciated the fascinating expression dear poetess
I think a better ending would be [Be Careful What We Wish For] bri ;)
but, Susan, though the poem is not what i usually think of as a poem, I DID appreciate your words till the last line.
'hoist by our own petard' I had to Google this. And having done so, I feel you've chosen a 'phrase' both obscure and not conforming to the poem actually.
Re: 'hoist by/with (one's) own petard Injured, ruined, or defeated by one's own action, device, or plot that was intended to harm another; having fallen victim to one's own trap or schemes.' (cont.)
Life really changes after stepping into family life.... thinking of career is very good but fitting and acomodating it is challenging
Soran, my friend, i Guess I will reply in 2 boxes! ! ! These women were trapped by a number of circumstances- -the age they grew up in vs the age they found themselves dealing with later, the dreams colliding with reality thing which is not a new thing at all but still heartbreaking. I wonder if men find themselves in similar circumstances- I bet they do but that needs a male poet to address!
Dear Soran- - I think I shall reply to your delicious comments in this one box... or two. The situation is one that popped up virtually out of nowhere on a number of mothers when the Feminist Movement sprang on the young unprepared women of that age. And they became torn by new dreams which were not dominated by dirty diapers and warring siblings.
part1 This philosophical poem tells us how the life would deceive us with it is tricks, some people calling it the nature and common sense, when love ends up with having children, this is the structure and rule of life and the cycle of generations, meanwhile we believe that we are controlling the life
Hi SUSAN by another word we can say the life is the trap games. if I am right! might you are not agree.. Well done for this masterpiece of work All the Best Boss
We took these roles on so willingly after dreaming about them from childhood on
part 2 /But mostly the life is controlling us without knowing this fact, always there are wise people like Susan understand this complication in relations between things and the secret of mankind's existence. have a big 10+ and definitely it goes onto my fav list
Our minds are spinning with dreams of glory or at least a little recognition and respect
I love the way your poetic creations overlap the walls of understanding by your simplicity of language and words, transporting deep emotions in vivid and imaginative ways. You're a great poetess, Susan.
Thank you for these heartening words, Chinedu! ! ! Whenever I feel dispirited about my poems, I reread your comments and if you can say such words then I take heart and pick up my pen again!
Inscription through question tag is much interesting. The theme of the poem has much value. You have wonderfully painted the womanhood that can attract towards it for reading over and over again. For this I have visited twice.
Thank you for visiting this little poem more than once- I think there can never be a better compliment for a poem! ! Thank you, Kumarmani, my friend!
The complexity and challenges of family life especially from a women's perspective is here excellently expressed as fairy tale expectations and beginnings give way to the rabid realities of the stresses, strains and struggles of life! .
When women are girls we are so wound up in the silken ribbons of love forever and ever- then the girl changes into a woman as time, children, hum-drum and heart-ache fill her days. There comes a point when women look out the window and wonder the what ifs of life choices. Thank you for understanding this. Howard!
A profound and compelling rendition.
