Family History Part 07: Resolved White Poem by Cowboy Ron Williams

Family History Part 07: Resolved White

Rating: 5.0

Kids, did you know that one of your ancestors was on the Mayflower? Well, three of them, actually, when you count his parents.

My eighth great-grandfather, Resolved White, came across the ocean on the ship Mayflower in 1620.

Resolved White was about 5 years old when he arrived on the Mayflower with his parents, William and Susanna, and infant brother Peregrine.

His father William died during the first winter, and he was raised by his step-father Edward Winslow.

As an adult, Resolved settled in Marshfield. He and his wife Judith are buried there in Winslow Cemetery.

I just learned about this ancestor today, so that is all I know at the present time. I will let you know more after I do more research.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Don't tell me this isn't a poem. I already know that, but since I don't have a Facebook page, I thought this would be a good place to share my family history with my grandchildren.

In 1620, a group of pilgrims left England seeking religious freedom. Upon their arrival in the New World, they created the Mayflower Compact, which established self-governance for the colony and helped shape the nation that eventually became the United States of America.

So, did you do more research, as planned? With my parents I visited Plymouth Plantation (?) near 'the rock', a recreated 'pilgrim' village with actors playing the parts. And I think toured a recreation of (the) Mayflower. bri : )

The kid brother is not one of my ancestors, Bri.

No, Mr. Edwards, you are incorrect. The kid brother would NOT be one of Ron's ancestors. The number three is correct.
