My Grandfather Clark Williams rode horseback,
from Grover, Wyoming to Park City, Utah,
leading three work horses to sell to the booming
silver mine there.
He finally returned home,
but a few weeks later than planned. With great relief,
they saw him approaching the house down the lane on his
horse. Something was different though; he was carrying
much more than the family's needed cash!
Alongside him
in the saddle was his new bride that he had courted,
or lassoed, into marriage while in Park City.
I was going to say: " except for breaking your write/'poem' into stanzas/paragraphs, this doesn't seem poem-like to me." But, i just read your Poet's Notes and see you agree. A family history is interesting, esp. as this one 'starts'. i may visit the other parts of history later. bri, :)
Its a very good poem. When are you riding out in your red limo and come home with boot full of benjamins and lovely lass to boot....or have you done it already.
Great picture, Cowboy, and the history is fascinating! Give us more!
