False & True Friends Poem by Micron Jan

False & True Friends

Rating: 5.0

You meet those who claim they're your friend,
Their smiles are wide, their laughs pretend.
They speak of care, of love and cheer,
But vanish the moment you're not near.

They call you great, say you're worth their time,
Then strike when you stumble, cold and unkind.
I thought I'd found some I could trust,
But learned caution is a must.

Yet some rare souls stay through storm and strife,
True friends who lift and brighten your life.
They hold your heart when the world feels cruel,
A steady light, a comforting rule.

I guard my feelings, yet let them in,
For with true friends, the heart can win.
