False Beat Poem by Shierylle Barison

False Beat

The moment we met, it felt so right.
I didn't have to think twice that night.
After just one day in your embrace,
It sparked a longing I couldn't erase.

I tried to ignore this feeling inside,
Yet it grew stronger; I could not hide.
With each glance, my heart began to soar.
Each moment spent with you, I wanted more.

So I sought to know you, to dream and to dare,
Imagining a future we might share.
But soon I discovered it was too late.
Your heart had been won by another's fate.

I felt like I lost everything, dear.
Drowning in feelings of longing and fear.
Thoughts crossed my mind as I faced the ache.
Realizing you're not unique, just a mistake.

The feelings I harbored were a false start.
For the truth of my heart was torn apart.
Yet through the pain, I'll find a way to mend.
To rise from the ashes and learn to transcend.
