(i)
Sun falls, stropped ax blade,
Through the tree branch spurting birds
On Splashed white and beige.
We sit on snow mats
And gold trays of light, faces
Powdered with white smoke.
Cream feather-bandaged
Legs and arms flying on grass
Burn in red bird flames.
Gray finches spray ash,
Wallowing off red finches
Burning wrinkled leaves.
(ii)
A hot wind blows down
Red petals to bleed, limbs tinder,
Saw-toothed rays cutting.
Sun slams razor ax
Deep into parched deck of cards,
King bloody pollen.
Queen drenched in pink mist,
Quill gray lance of sun stroking
A burnt-out red face,
A kingdom of rays
A hearth burning limbs and birds
Flying off shot storm.
