Lovely. We first make a try, but memories makes us cry yet our lost souls never die.

Beautiful and true. Many of us have that box, it may not be under the bed, but you can be sure it is tucked away somewhere, even if it's only in our minds.

What a lovely poem, it speaks so much of the sentiments and feelings that we may never lose but upon opening that box just relive the finer moments of our lives, like throwing on a warm sweater to soothe us. Just lovely. HG: -) xx

D, when did you come into my flat? In seriousness... ye gods, this rings so many bells. Expertly written. The best thnig is always to throw away those old notes. However, I am glad you put the date of writing onto it. You've moved on and up and congratulations to you on that. t x

Very nice, David... sad, but heartfelt and well worded. It's certainly deserving of its acclaim. Brian

Oh, David: This really works for me all the way. Your ending lines so simple but elegant: 'the love we once knew, in that far off spring.' That ties up the entire poem, almost like a sonnet in its pivotal point. More like this! alicia

Life is full of memories, some sad some well remembered like yours. I hope you found a new love in the following years, for writing like yours deserves a soul mate. Keep writing and I will keep reading. Bob

Written all those years ago, this poem is still as fresh as the memories. Haven't we all got a box of memories hidden away somewhere, to remind us of what wonderful times we had. The people and the times may have gone but they are still part of our pasts. A lovely poem, David. Thanks for sharing it. Love, Fran xx

Wonderful poem David, the good thing here is being fortunate to have those fabulous letters, being able to sit and ponder, read and remember. Think how sad it would be not to have them. Thanks for sharing David---Melvina---
