Faded Dreams 1 Poem by Wilfred Mellers

Faded Dreams 1

Faded Dreams
Written by Wilfred Mellers, Sunday, November 18,2012

Now I know dreams don't come true,
For I won't be sharing them with you.
No more walking in the park,
No sharing kisses in the dark.

No showing you off to my friends,
No spending romantic weekends.
No more rides for all they're worth,
No taking you to the land of my birth.

I wanted to hold your tender hands,
But now the truth begins to unfold.
Now the music has died,
All because you lied to me.

In time, all things are revealed,
Secrets are no longer concealed.
A happy life was my ideal,
But now I know how you truly feel.

Your actions show you don't care;
When I call, you're never there.
I did my best to comfort you,
But above all the rest,

I gave you all that I could ever give.
I would go hungry so you could live.
I spent hours with you,
And not even a letter did you send.

Now my dreams have faded away,
But I'll be alright come what may.
Some things time will not erase,
Questions linger that you couldn't face.

I won't waste any more time on you;
No longer will I chase the breeze.
Dreams don't always come true,
For God knows I loved you.
