Eye-Rogenous Poem by Denis Mair

(in response to Sanju Paul's drawing titled 'unbowed')
... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

I am looking at a picture that makes me want to coin this new word.

In the most intensely sentient zones of the biosphere, not excluding animals,

there is no flinching from the full impact of feeling, whether ecstatic or heart-rending.

This endowment of feeling cannot back down, for there is nowhere else to go.

Even If it is crushed, it will identify with other versions of itself

and inwardly celebrate their continuance.

If memories of connection are stripped away, it will reinvent them.

It will conjure up with-ness at a distance.

It will take pride in its special way of being ordinary.

Painful awareness is nostalgic for its sense of life-giving intent

It hopes to taste nutmeats of earth, albeit with hunger for sauce.

It longs for a big mind where its mind can be let out to pasture.

It will defiantly rejoice in its own capacity for regeneration,

because that same capacity will aim at wholeness elsewhere.

Tendrils of service will entwine to make a nest.

Nestlings destined to make great efforts

will tenderly imagine the hopes entrusted in them.

It's the antidote for entropy fear. I love this poem.
