Eyebrows, A Prose Poem Poem by Denis Mair

Eyebrows, A Prose Poem

Rating: 5.0

Eyebrows are caterpillars with their own agenda, wiggling and arching like accent marks; they ooze innuendo; they twitch like bait for a hypothethical fool. They dart between the limits of outrage and astonishment. They are preposterous highlights decentered from the message of an expression. There is a Chinese expression for an exaggerated leer...眉飞色舞 (MEIFEI-SEWU) , literally "eyebrows flying and looks fluttering."

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Years ago in Taiwan, my classics teacher Mr. Pan gave me an essay he wrote titled "Master Du's Eyebrows." He meant the overtones of attitude in Du Fu's poetic descriptions.

Reading this, my eyebrows darted in astonishment. Watching eyebrow movements of kids is my favourite pastime.

Eye is the mirror of inner feelings.when we express any thing, the feelings automatically show in our eyes and also evident on eyebrows. In anger, sadness or happiness, our eyebrows shrink or expand accordingly.Artists , while drawing human faces make use of this differences in eyebrow expression. A lovely poem, thanks for sharing.
