Eye for eye, they say
A cycle of vengeance, it may
But in a world of pain and strife
Is it truly the key to a better life?
Retribution, justice sought
In the eye of the beholder, fraught
With emotions, pure and raw
But is this truly what we're fighting for?
A never-ending cycle of hate
Each side believing they hold fate
But where does it all truly end
When there's always another wound to mend?
What if instead of an eye for an eye
We chose empathy, gave peace a try
Put down our weapons, open our hearts
Could we find a way to make a new start?
For in the end, we're all just the same
Yearning for love, trying to tame
The demons that haunt us deep within
But perhaps forgiveness is where we truly begin
So let's break the chains of revenge
And in its place, let compassion avenge
For true strength lies in letting go
And healing the wounds that continue to grow
Eye for eye, let's change the game
And choose a path that leads to no more pain
For in this world, we all must strive
To break the cycle, and choose to truly thrive.
