Extra! Extra! Extraterrestrials! Poem by Etienne Charilaou

Extra! Extra! Extraterrestrials!

Two bright lights traveling o'er Edenvale
were spotted by a woman fair
at the end of the last year.
UFOs they were, though no reports
in newspapers did appear.

But pilots of a cargo plane
flying over Jeffrey's Bay
saw something green, quite plain,
rising above their plane,
then falling fast again.

Many reports came in,
through fireworks were seen
some strange aerial things,
at the turn of the year.

UFOs amid fireworks, yes, well;
skeptics would raise all kinds of hell!
Aliens hopping on a tourist bus
a million years ahead of us
just in time for Xmas
and the New Year's fuss!

Under scrutiny we may be
by all manner of probes far and near.
Tiny alien eyes and ears
reporting back to their overseers.

But if they're studying Humanology,
in human guise they would appear,
for with advanced technology,
you can do almost anything, I hear.

Dear alien, cosmic brothers;
you scare me like no others;
but at least we may share
a sense of curiosity rare;
and wouldn't it be nice,
if you had humor to spare!
