A wonderful, insightful and wisdom filled limerick. A witty short write that creates a deep impact. A must read for all parents who want to shape their children the way they wanted them to be. Congratulations, Sir Aniruddha for a well deserved accolade.

Thanks indeed, but not 'Sir Aniruddha', but just Aniruddha...

A child would have to be exceptionally talented to be compared with the scientist of relativity and place-time-Albert Einstein. A parent may have too high expectations of their child- not uncommon. The cartoon is so right.

Well said, such great expectations.. Albert Einstein, but parents should beware, it might turn out to be another Frankenstein. Thanks dear poet.

Very true Sir j! That's the true picture of present times...not everywhere but in India..and esp. in our Gujarati community. Parents' high expectations don't let the kids enjoy their childhood...so powerful message and of course the cartoon too. Thanks for sharing...

Your observation are to the point and in place. And a recent happening. It was not quite so when I was a child.

A poem so relevant to the present day education system and the tension that children face. An apt picture added too. A poem that deserves a full score.........10

Thanks Geetaji for the full score. And I appreciate the goodwill of all the poets that gave me 10. This might tend to sound like being ungrateful, please do not misunderstand me, but a thought came to my mind... and you know mind is a monkey.., I have never seen a less than 10 awarded by any to any poem, to any poet, ... but I think a nine or even eight is fairly decent. The point you raised is very valid.

Heartiest Congratulations Aniruddha ji. So good to see your poem as the poem of the day. Absolutely! Every child is not an Einstein. Wish all parents understood this. Its terrible when you force your child to do things that they are not interested in. Childhood has become a nightmare for many children.

Yes, indeed, not that the parents know not, but they get pushed by the system. We forget that every child is born unique with a unique set of talents. We need to have a system that can spot this talent. Thanks Geetaji.

Thanks, but I often feel being the poet of the moment after penning a new poem... and then, then the tide recedes.

The poem highlights the paradox of education where a small child carries the burden of his elders' ambition on his shoulders with regard to his projected career to be pursued by him in future. Written in a lighter vein, the content of the limerick is quite thought provoking. Thanks a lot.

'Burden of the elders' yes that is what it is, well said dear poet. 'Written in a lighter vein, the content of the limerick is quite thought provoking...' This is another very keen observation, yes, my limericks are generally of that genre. Thanks so much.

The Limerick and the cartoon , so powerfully express the message i.e.'the precarious condition of today's child'. There is no time to chill. We burden the child with our high expectations and except him to perform without caring his inner ability or interest. As a result he gets no time for fun or game. Congratulations for your poem being selected as the Poem of the Day!

You are right dear poet, we tend to kill the very childhood of a child. I can't imagine a three-year old going to even a 'pre-nursery' school, when he should be rather playing freely with other children. Hope, the book the ladies' group planned is progressing well.

'The cartoon added...', rather the poem was added on to the cartoon. I saw the cartoon and then the poem came on to the scene. But Yes, they both fit in rather well.
