Even Through The Distance Poem by Micron Jan

Even Through The Distance

I know you by the sound of your voice,
By the pauses you take, the careful choice
Of words you soften when it's late at night,
When hours disappear and everything feels right.
I've heard you breathe between laughs and truth,
Heard comfort live in the shape of you.

We've talked until time forgot our names,
Until sunrise felt like it came too soon again.
Your voice feels close though you're not here,
A presence I can almost touch, almost feel.
I wonder if meeting will feel the same—
Or if it will somehow feel even braver.

In my daydreams, the first time we meet
Is quieter than the world expects it to be.
No grand lines, no perfect cue,
Just a smile that says it's really you.
I imagine your hand brushing against mine,
Like our voices already practiced the timing.

It's strange how real someone can be
Without sharing the same air, the same city.
I know your tone when you're tired or light,
I know when you smile without seeing your sight.
If this is just a dream, I'll still stay here
Because your voice always feels sincere.
