Eternity Calling Poem by Danny Speicher

Eternity Calling

Time is turning; eroded with the wind
And I feel this broken heart growing old
A lifetime of hurt and disappointment
Always the fool who never finds gold

Oh to go to yesteryear and live
A life differently than that I have had
To be more bold or be more cautious
And attempt to make things not go so bad

Loves lost and loves only contrived
In long forgotten hopes and faded dreams
And the belief that someday I might find her
Sometimes destinations aren't what they seem

Oh, I can hear eternity calling
I feel my time here coming to a close
All I ask, Lord, before you send for me
Is a love, just once, to redeem this prose

And when tomorrow comes and you find me
Peaceful with eyes closed, arms raised to the sky
Know that my life was made incredible
By a girl who never once left my side

Oh Lord, please give me this blessing, I pray
So that joy might find me all of my days
