Era Of The Rich And Beautiful
When the glories are the glitterings,
the skyscrapers,
what cities has the tallest buildings,
The most solidly soundarchitecturally
resilient
technologically advance buildings,
Against the earthquakes, the fires, the floods,
the ramparts and the drawbridge,
All the chromed steels, glasses,
and the industrial wastes,
and surplus carbons and the plastics,
The cures and the breakthroughs
The unbelievable feats and the inventions,
And yes, this life is the most modern
showcases, and convenience,
Trooped to Disneyland, Canberra, IMAX,
and the Times Square,
Lineupfor the plane tickets and the passports,
wealths and the stock dividends,
Among the streetwalkers,
the weak, the hungry,
injustice denials of the rights,
the homeless,
the old forgotten
and cardboard mats
on the sleeping sidewalks,
Presenting the twenthieth century
era of the rich and the beautiful,
Yet are you alone in your magnificence,
Unsure why fear is always in your heart,
