Envious Lies Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

Envious Lies

Rating: 5.0

They clamoured for autonomy
From a peaceful close-knit community
To be on their own with their Eze

They drummed and fought for it
Told everyone the half truth
The autonomy will bring development

But those who knew know better
That this reason is false
And will lead to the balkanization
Of a brotherly land

Granted was their wish
New Eze dutifully installed
Peace has deserted the community
Development has refused to come
And many are asking why?
It is the envy for the Ezeship

Wish your struggle for peace and happiness will not go in vain. But without struggle nothing can be achieved. My best wishes. A great inspiring poem. Thanks for sharing.
